A trip to Antwerp on the waterbus

08-04-2020

The waterbus leaves from the Scheldelei in Kruibeke, at 3,5 km distance from our B&B BAZ. You can park your car free of charge on the parking of Scheldelei, close to the location of departure of the waterbus. You can also take your bike on the waterbus. The waterbus can also be accessed by weelchair. After a 17 minute trip on the river Schelde you have a view of the skyline when entering Antwerp.

The adventure starts on Steenplein: the Steen castle, the cathedral, the ruien, the diamondmuseum, the Grote Markt with the city hall, the many restaurants… all after less than a 500m walk!

The part of the city called Het Eilandje, is less than 1km away from the landing stage of the waterbus. It has three main attractions: the MAS, the Red Star Line Museum and the Havenhuis (Porthouse). All three merit a visit!

Passing by the Groenplaats and the shoppingstreets De Meir and De Keyserlei you will reach the Antwerp Zoo after a 2 km walk.

Or would you be interested in a walk along the shops and other buildings of the Jewish community of Antwerp?

Every Saturday, between 8 am  and 4 pm you can visit the exotic market, on Oudevaartplaats (next to City theatre). This market, which locals call the vreemdelingenmarkt (foreigners market) is the market for amateurs of tasty food and drinks: mediteranian specialties like olives, cheese, sundried tomatoes, peppers, spices, fresh pasta, Turkish bread, French sausages, Greek keftedakia, Thai noodles and Spanish tapas. You will find both fresh ingredients as well as ready made products. There is also a rich assortment of inviting foodstands for those who would like to taste on the spot.

We have mentioned some of the most important points of attraction of Antwerp. But there is a lot more to discover!  A lot of museums, parks, restaurants, shopping streets, the port…

On request, we will gladly provide the guest in our B&B with a made to measure program. You prefer cultural, sport, hip? It is all possible. Please send an email with your wishes to info@bnbbaz.be.
